Aarhus University Hospital (AUH) is one of the largest hospitals in Denmark and situated in Aarhus, the second biggest city in Denmark. The hospital provides specialised treatment to citizens in the Central Denmark Region and other regions of Denmark. AUH employs 10,200 employees and has an availability of 1,150 beds. The hospital has 44 clinical departments. AUH has a major focus on research, development and delivery of highly specialised treatments and was appointed the best hospital in Denmark 12 years in a row and was in 2020 elected the 11th best hospital in the world (https://www.newsweek.com/best-hospitals-2020).
The departments involved in STOPSTORM are the Department of Cardiology and the Department of Oncology. The Department of Cardiology is an internationally renowned and highly specialised department for diagnosis and state-of-the-art treatment of every aspect of heart disease. The Electrophysiology (EP) section of the department performs approximately 1100 ablations and 1200 implantations of pacemakers and ICD’s per year. Each year we treat patients with VT by catheter ablation where energy delivery is insufficient to prevent recurrence of the arrhythmia. We have the skills and knowledge to perform state-of-the-art catheter ablation at our institution
The Department of Oncology offers basic and highly specialized cancer therapy to more than 12,000 patients annually. The department consists of a large outpatient department, 3 wards, a research department, and a radiotherapy section with 10 accelerators giving more than 55000 radiotherapy fractions per year. The radiotherapy section delivers SAbR treatment to over 250 cancer patients annually. Development of RT at AUH is supported by a large research group at both AUH and AU, including five full-time medical physics research professors. Ongoing relevant projects in the department include forefront work within dose response modelling, motion management and auto-segmentation
