The University Medical Centre Mannheim
The University Medical Centre Mannheim (UHEI) is a large tertiary medical centre and university hospital. Over 250.000 patients are cared for annually in around 30 clinics and institutes. The medical departments involved in STOPSTORM are ‘Cardiology, Internal Intensive Care Medicine, Angiology and Pneumology’ and ‘Radiation Oncology’.
The Cardiology Department covers all diagnostic and treatment aspects of supraventricular and ventricular brady- and tachyarrhythmias. Over the past years we have treated over 100 patients, both ischemic and non-ischemic.
The Radiation Oncology Department has many years of experience in image-guided stereotactic radiotherapy and motion management. This includes the use of breath-hold gating with ABC™ (Elekta) and/or surface tracking (Catalyst™, C-RAD) for SBRT treatments of primary and secondary lung and liver tumours, oligometastases (bone, lung, liver, adrenal, lymph nodes). The department is also an active member of the Working Group Stereotactic Radiotherapy of the German Society of Radiation Oncology.
For the RAVENTA study (German multi-centre STAR trial), UHEI has coordinated and performed the first three benchmark cases regarding interdisciplinary target volume definition in a multi-institutional setting (5 university hospitals).
